The US Open was forced to suspend play yesterday during the match between Coco Gauff and Karolina Muchova thanks to a group of climate change protestors who wouldn’t shut up about fossil fuels during the match.

Remember last year before Roger Federer’s final match when that dork lit himself on fire on the tennis court? There have been countless examples of these climate change protesters at sporting events, specifically tennis matches, over the past few years and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better.

Side Note: I already know the type of reaction people are going to have to this article. I also know that those reactions are wrong and I’m totally in the right here. So please, save yourself the time and just don’t read it if you don’t like what I’m going to write next. Don’t care.

To date, dealing with these climate change protestors just hasn’t worked. If it was working, then we wouldn’t have climate change protestors. Simple, right?

What a bunch of assholes. Literally no one at a tennis match gives two shits about your climate change nonsense and I promise you, not one person who actually has a private jet and is burning fossil fuels cares either. 

So let’s be brutally honest...

The most upsetting part of any time these climate change idiots attempt to protest is the fact that authorities suspend or postpone the event taking place and reprimand whoever is causing the disturbance and that’s pretty much it.

That’s a win in the climate change protester handbook.

Can’t happen. I wouldn’t even give them the attention they desperately crave.

I don’t know, maybe I’m a crazy person but why not just let that guy light himself on fire and sweep his ashes off the court when the burning is over? As for the pretty girl at the French Open, just continue play and have tennis balls bounce off her until she’s unconscious and then remove her from the event.

Everyone in attendance should just sit back, cracked open a fresh beer, and pretend that whatever nonsense these people are protesting about simply isn’t happening.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

That’s the problem with these protests. They aren’t changing anything and are completely useless. Does anyone on the internet care about what these people are protesting about? Nope.

End fossil fuels? Okay then what? Have any of these “protests” ever yielded any type of change or at the very least, any productive conversation on the topic?

Of course not. People just watch the videos come out while muttering “what a bunch of losers” as they count down the seconds to 5PM on a Friday afternoon.

That goes for the animal protestors at NBA Playoff games and hot dog eating contests as well as literally anyone who brings that type of nonsense to a sporting event.

I’m here to tell you right now. We don’t care.

Why the US Open had to completely stop play because these dorks wouldn’t shut up is completely insane. Oh, he glued his feet to the ground?

Okay. Well now he has two options. Either you rip all the skin off the bottom of his feet, removing him by force, or you literally duct tape him to the seat and cover his mouth.

End fossil fuels? Okay then what?

Have any of these “protests” ever yielded any type of change or at the very least, any productive conversation on the topic?

Yeah, I didn’t think so.

Honestly, the only way to handle these protestors is what happened outside of the Burning Man Festival. Nevada police just drove right through their dumb roadblock and then hopped out of their SUVs, guns drawn, and arrested all of them.

Swift action. Problem resolved.

Don’t get me wrong, I support everyone’s right to protest but I also support everyone’s rights to counter protests and treat these situations with the “play stupid games, win stupid prizes” mindset.

Also – the fact that security was negotiating with this guy is beyond ridiculous. That only encourages these dorks in what they will now almost certainly view as a “win” against fossil fuels.
