Jason Kelce Retirement New Heights Podcast

Jason Kelce squashes retirement reports on New Heights, says there was too much emotion to make that type of decision

Yesterday, Adam Schefter put out a report that Jason Kelce, following a miserable 32-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, notified his teammates in the locker room that he would be retiring from football. New information this morning that came directly from Kelce indicates that is not the case.

On the New Heights podcast, Jason Kelce commented on the report he was retiring, saying that he did in fact address his teammates, telling them “I got belief in every single one of you guys. Cherish the moments you have in this league.” but that it wasn’t a retirement announcement. He continued saying it wouldn’t have been right to make a decision like that with so much emotion happening after a frustrating loss to the Bucs.

Actual Footage of Jason Kelce in the Eagles’ Locker Room (Basically)

Okay seriously, here’s Jason Kelce on leaked retirement report

I didn’t announce what I was doing on purpose despite what’s been leaked to the media. People can kind of feel body language and stuff… I just don’t think you’re in position after a game like that to really make that decision. There’s too much emotion in the moment. There’s too much going down in the moment to really fully grasp that decision. I’m not trying to be dramatic and continue to draw this thing out. I’m really not. It’s just something that I think when it’s time to officially announce what’s happening in the future, it will be done in a way that is definitive and pays respect to a lot of people and individuals that have meant a lot to me and what has led to the career I had. And I don’t think it would be respectful or even accurate to be able to do that right after a game like that. Frustrated I guess at kind of everything that’s happening, but in the future there will be something said I guess. But I did address the team and pretty much said to you that ‘I got belief in every single one of you guys. Cherish the moments you have in this league.’”

From the jump, I thought it was somewhat bizarre that Kelce didn’t make this announcement on his own and out of all people, Adam Schefter had the beat on his “retirement announcement”.

That’s on me for not realizing there was fuckery unfolding. I was nursing a miserable hangover yesterday that left my mind clouded. For that, I apologize. The media rats are running wild and now, it’s clear as day that Adam Schefter is one of them. Also important to note, this is just the state of the Eagles locker room. Lots of trash and nonsense being floated around and no one really knows who is to blame and what is actually happening.

Regardless, Adam Schefter is a certified RAT for leaking that report without accurate information.

Jumping the gun on the retirement of literally the best center of all time is a WILD move from Schefty. This isn’t to say that Kelce is NOT retiring but at the same time, this is a legendary football player and deserves the respect to process this fully before anyone makes any type of report about his future.v
