3 Eagles rookies earn spots on PFF’s Preseason All-Rookie Team
It’s no secret that preseason lists don’t win football games and honestly, I’m of the belief that anything leading up to Week 1 can brushed to the side once the real season begins.
Still, it’s always nice to see three Eagles rookies get some recognition before we get serious on Thursday night in South Philly against the Cowboys.
Eagles reveal their first official depth chart of the 2025 season
Pro Football Focus dropped its 2025 Preseason All-Rookie Team this week, and the Eagles had three names on it.
Willie Lampkin, Antwaun Powell-Ryland, and Andrew Mukuba all earned spots on the roster, which obviously isn’t bad for a draft class that has barely even stepped onto the field yet.
Willie Lampkin — The Jason Kelce Comparisons Begin
Undrafted out of North Carolina, claimed off waivers from the Rams, Lampkin is already turning heads before he’s even logged a regular season snap. He’s undersized for a center, which is exactly why people keep whispering Jason Kelce’s name when they talk about him.
Now he gets to work under Jeff Stoutland, which is about as good as it gets if you’re trying to develop into an NFL lineman. He’s on IR to start the season, but the Eagles clearly think he’s worth the stash.
Antwaun Powell-Ryland — A Howie Special
Practice squad today, defensive weapon tomorrow? That’s the bet here.
The Virginia Tech edge rusher graded out at a 90.2 PFF score in the preseason and looks like another late-round gem from Howie Roseman’s treasure chest.
He may not see the field right away, but if he gets elevated, don’t be shocked when he pops as a situational pass rusher.
Andrew Mukuba — The Real Deal
The one everyone’s talking about. Mukuba was drafted to start next to Reed Blankenship right away, and he wasted no time making his mark in the preseason.
Eagles Training Camp: Looks like rookie second-round pick has secured a starting spot
He only played 29 snaps, but still put up a ridiculous 95.7 PFF grade and snagged a pick-six off Browns QB Dillon Gabriel. He’s banged up heading into Week 1, which means Sydney Brown might get the nod if he can’t go, but make no mistake, Andrew Mukuba is the rookie Fangio is banking on to elevate this defensive secondary.
Three rookies, three different paths.
- Lampkin = Kelce 2.0 whispers
- Powell-Ryland = sneaky depth piece waiting for a call-up
- Mukuba = starter-in-waiting, already showing star potential
None of them have even scratched the surface yet, but the fact they’re already on PFF’s radar tells you the Eagles might have nailed this rookie class.
