Wonder where Shaq was when Embiid was 3/4 from three in a playoff win. Actually no I don't. His opinions don't matter to me. Shaq will probably remain the most dominant center in NBA history. But Embiid is certainly making a tremoundous case for that himself. Embiid is one of the most gifted and versatille centers we have ever seen. He put that on display last night.

An underrated aspect of the Sixers is their depth. It may not always seem like they have a deep bench, but when coach Doc Rivers uses the right rotations, the bench tends to perform at a high level. They can go to Mattisse for lockdown defense. They can always rely on Dwight for reliable backup big man play. George Hill is a veteran combo guard. But, there is a young player on that bench that provides something no one else can. That is Tyrese Maxey.
Devonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle, Jaycee Horn, Patrick Surtain, and Rashawn Slater would all be great picks for the Eagles. The most likeliest of picks as well. Averaging 21 PPG on incredible efficiency. Add this to his improved defense and playmaking. You simply have a very, very important part of the 1st place 76ers.
The Philadelphia 76ers ended up doing business with the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2021 NBA trade deadline. The Sixers are landing George Hill from the Thunder and Ignas Brazdeikis from the Knicks. Oklahoma City receives Tony Bradley, Philly’s 2025 and 2026 second round picks, and Knick guard Austin Rivers. New York nets Terrance Ferguson and Philly’s 2021 second round pick.
We are nearly halfway through the season, and Joel Embiid is #1 in the MVP race right now. If I were to tell you, after the process days, the Sixers would have the best player in basketball; would you believe me? That is where we are at right now. Obviously, the goal will always be to win a championship. But I think we all need to take a step back and just appreciate Joel Hans Embiid.
The biggest takeaway from this game was Ben Simmons. Well, besides Charles Barkley absolutely butchering Furkan Korkmaz's name. Simmons completely took Luka Doncic out of his game. He set the tone defensively to say the least. The whole team rallied around his efforts.
